Last week I shared some times table colouring mandalas, because the girls genuinely love colouring. Hopefully this will translate into them remembering their times tables for the long term. I’ve been making it my mission to come up with ways of learning the multiplication tables which combine that learning with an activity kids enjoy. My suspicion is that when we teach kids in boring ways (like memorisation by rote) it sucks that natural love of learning right out of the picture, and they begin to take a lot less interest. While my girls both claim they love maths, neither of them claim to love times table drilling.
